Stay with us!
It’s one of the great
Aha! moments in Scripture. The Road to
Emmaus is a wonderful anecdote with a satisfying arc – starting with longing
and sadness, moving through a slow illumination, ending with astonishment and
joy.
A painting of the
climactic scene inspired me to visualize some thoughts about the passage. Though this doesn’t quite fit into my 8:18 intent to write about real-time
observations, this is a story all about awareness. And one of the great things about writing my
own blog is that I get to be as inconsistent as I want! So, here it is (with my little jokey commentary on Stom's costume choices):
Jesus, forgive us for how often
we stuff ourselves with knowledge from your word with little intent on burning
any of the spiritual calories it gives us.
Even today, give us opportunities to meet you in the midst of loving
actions you prompt us to do.
